While Georgia has seen improvement in its high school graduation rate, it still ranks in the bottom 5 of 50 states. With a national average of 79%, Georgia sits with a 72% average.
Many mega districts within metro Atlanta see far more abysmal rates than this average though, falling into the low 60th percentile (or lower…)
Contrast that with city school systems – like Decatur City Schools (in the heart of DeKalb County), who see graduation rates of 94%, and you have a strong argument for city school systems having a direct and positive impact in successfully raising the bar and outcome for their learning community.
What Georgia needs is HR-4, real local control, real results.
